DayDare asks you to write down what frightens you and whether you told the truth about your day. That is not data anyone else should hold, so we built the app so that we never do. This page says exactly what that means.
01Who we are
DayDare is an app for iPhone and Apple Watch published by VektraMind (“VektraMind”, “we”, “us”). You can reach us at hello@daydare.app.
02The short version
- No account. Nothing asks for your name or your email. You never sign up for anything, and nothing in DayDare is linked to a name.
- No server of ours. DayDare doesn't send your journal to us or to anyone else. There is no DayDare server to send it to.
- No analytics, no ads, no tracking. We can't see which missions you do, which you skip, or that you opened the app. We chose not to know.
- Your journal lives in your own iCloud and on your devices, and nowhere else.
Everything you see in the app, such as points, streaks, levels and the numbers in your journal, is arithmetic done on your device from what you logged.
03What the app handles
To work, DayDare stores on your device:
- Your journal: which mission you were given each day, your guess about how frightening it would feel, how it went (Did it, Partly, or Not today), how frightened you were before and after, and any short note you write or dictate.
- Your settings: the places where your life happens, your reminder time, your palette and appearance.
- Records the app computes from your journal: points, streak, levels, calibration and the weekly letter.
04Where your data lives
Your journal is stored on your device. If you're signed in to iCloud and iCloud is on for DayDare, it's also kept in your private iCloud database so that it appears on your other devices. That data is held by Apple under your Apple Account. It is not accessible to us. Widgets, the Lock Screen, the Live Activity and the Apple Watch app read the same data on your own devices.
05Notifications, dictation and sharing
- Reminders are scheduled on your device. There is no push server. DayDare asks for notification permission after your first finished mission, not before.
- Dictation uses the microphone only when you tap it. What you say is turned into text on your device, and the text is what you keep. If dictation isn't available for your language, typing works.
- Sharing and exporting happen only when you choose them. The report and share card are images made on your device, and “Save a copy” writes your journal to a file you choose where to put.
06Deleting your data
“Delete everything” in Settings removes your journal from the phone and from your iCloud. There is no copy anywhere else, and we can't recover it for you, so use “Save a copy” first if you might want it. Deleting the app removes the data on that device.
07Purchases
DayDare is a one-time purchase handled entirely by Apple. We never see your payment details or your Apple Account, and there are no in-app purchases or subscriptions.
08This website
daydare.app doesn't use cookies. When you choose a language, we remember your choice in your browser's local storage; it never leaves your device. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes technical data such as your IP address to deliver pages and protect the site from attacks. If you email us, we use your message and address only to reply.
To see how the site is used, we use Cloudflare Web Analytics. For each page view it records the page, the site you came from, your country, your type of device and browser, and how fast the page loaded. It uses no cookies or local storage, does not fingerprint you by your IP address or browser, and we only ever see totals, never an individual visitor. This is about the website only: the app itself has no analytics at all.
09Your rights
Because DayDare has no accounts and we don't receive your journal, we generally hold no personal data about you apart from emails you send us. If you believe we hold information about you, or you'd like to exercise a right of access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection or portability, write to hello@daydare.app. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
10Children
DayDare is rated 16+ and is not directed at children. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone, but if you think a child has sent us personal information by email, please tell us and we'll delete it.
11Changes to this policy
If we change how DayDare handles information, we'll update this page and the date at the top. If a change is significant, we'll also tell you in the app.
